Communication is indeed a broad term that encompasses lots of different things and it can be related to several concepts and theories. Of all the topics discussed in Chapter 8, the 5 concepts that I find the most interesting & intriguing are the following:
- The Net
In today’s world we are dominated with technology, for by looking around all people are using smartphones surfing the internet and chitchatting with their relatives. But me as a user I am intrigued with the thoughts of the called 'Net’. I do believed that 'Net' is the best discovery in our existence, by just a click you already know how to cook or by just a click you already messaged a person and by just a click you already buy what you need. It becomes a basic necessity to some because it can provide knowledge, entertainment and connection between people. It really fascinating that this advancement provide our life a lot more easier.
2. The Net’s Downside
Aforementioned in my number one list, the world dominated with technology but are we sure enough that this advancement are just providing us advantages. We must realize that in every click we must think first maybe sometime it invades our privacy or the digital divide may occur. We should accountable with our action because it may harm us.
3. Control over Internet
Advancement that describe more easier and reliable source but are we sure enough that internet and technology always do what is right? As I experienced, I honestly controlled by the internet for like instead of doing activities in school I prefer to use social media and get distracted for a long time. Its dangerous, we constraint ourselves in this.
4. Knowledge Management
However, are we knowledgeable yet? This is the most questioned thing in my mind because instead for us to use the advancement of internet in a useful way, we’re wasting it in unnecessary things. We should absorb knowledge with the use of this advancement, we should learn more and gain but more information.
5. Information Overload
I can relate these words with the movie “Lucy”. She is the person who don’t know what is “Information Overload”. I am curious if when will the time come that we are able to unleash the untapped brainpower we have, our mental talents and have that capability to absorb information rapidly and endlessly? I know it cannot be possible and current reality would only tell us that there are limitless information available that we must know how to manage when information overload happens.
