Activity 5.1. How do interpersonal media differ from the mass media?

Interpersonal and Mass Media are both useful and plays a huge big in a Communication. Interpersonal media message is conveyed by person to another which its being transmitted to a large number of audience. Also, interpersonal media can be an exchanging messages that may gain feedbacks to be understood. This could be a daily common way to convey message in daily lives rather a face-to-face conversation.

While, Mass Media is only effective if its all form is good and could be conveyed directly. Mass Media only perform through television, radio, print etc. It may cause a lot of barriers and no feedback at all. It can cause also a factitious.

Somehow, It explained how does these mass media works, its purpose and including the implications of the new communication technology on development. We cannot deny the fact that television, print, radio and also Internet the opened our eyes into the door of globalization, where all information is easily transmitted faster and quick which differs to the effect of interpersonal media. But until end both are giving people it needs, the information.

Activity 5.2.

Which medium do households all over the Philippines most commonly own?

As I live with my parents and grandparents, I still notice that Television and Radio are their go-to and preferred form of media to use. Because according to them, television with live coverage can deliver you factual events, as well the radio.

Which medium do households least commonly own over Philippines?

It's hard to believe that we are in this 21st century but Filipinos least commonly own medium are gadgets and internet. Aforementioned above I have my grandma, and most the people I live with is elderly, meaning not most people can relate and had the same vision to overcome this kind of changes. Maybe in Metro Manila where most of people used internet as an entertainment too, but how about the rural areas such as provinces with weaker stability of internet or rather undeveloped yet.

Which medium are most Filipinos exposed to?

I believe that most Filipinos are more exposed with Television and Radio, because until now not all Filipinos are well interacted with modernization and technology. Also, as I mentioned there are still undeveloped area in the Philippines that can’t easily expose to afford such, that a radio can be an option to those who can’t afford.

Which medium are they least exposed to?

Internet, newspaper and other print medias, because believe it or not in this generation people would prefer to listen than to read. Aside from it, people can't afford to have an internet connection and print medias is slowly fading in the picture.
